Echoing the "Touring" and "Lightweight" specifications of the original Porsche 911 Carrera RS 2.7 of the 1970s, the "RS" nameplate was resurrected in 1992 with the introduction of two versions the 964-generation 911 Carrera RS 3.6: a standard "touring" model, and a track-focused "Clubsport" variant. The Clubsport was subjected to a ruthless weight-loss program over the standard car, offering few power options, no air conditioning or carpeting, and deleted rear seats. Instead, the RS Clubsport included a roll cage, full race seats and a seam-welded chassis as standard equipment, meaning that the car was no mere badge special...it was a true road-and-track special.
