The Ferrari 330 P2 was a giant technological leap forward for the fabled Italian race car builder, as it eschewed space-frame construction for a modern semi-monocoque body, and rode for the first time on tubeless tires. Slippery and powerful, the P2 should have dominated international sports car racing in 1965, but in fact only scored a single victory during that season: the grueling Nurburgring 1000-kilometer race. In the skilled hands of John Surtees and Ludovico Scarfiotti, the 330 P2 would dominate the deadly Nordschleife circuit with a winning time of 6 hours, 53 minutes, 5.4 seconds...the first time the race had been completed in under seven hours!
New from Looksmart is this charming 1:43-scale resin replica of the Nurburgring-winning Ferrari 330 P2. Its curvaceous bodywork evokes the dawn of the prototype era of sports car racing with crackling authenticity, complimented by accurately scaled details such as its external filler cap, dual-arm windscreen wiper and Scuderia shields.
