Built specifically to contest Mexico's lethal Carrera Panamericana open road race in 1952, Ferrari's 340 Mexico helped introduce the up-and-coming Italian race car constructor to North American enthusiasts. Motivated by a monstrous 4.1-liter Lampredi V12, the sleek Vignale-bodied berlinettas were capable of top speeds in excess of 170 miles per hour...just the thing for making short work of the Mexican course's prodigious straightaways. A legendary icon of the thrilling era of open road races, the Ferrari 340 Mexico is now available as a wonderfully detailed 1:43-scale resin model car by Tecnomodel. Its graceful Michelotti-penned lines have been recreated with crackling authenticity, accented by delicate wire spoke wheels and realistic cockpits. Choose from the 1952 "press" version in classic Rosso Corsa, the "No Hay Dos" #20 version as driven to third place in the 1952 Carrera Panamericana by Luigi Chinetti and Jean Lucas, or the white-on-red #4 car driven by Phil Hill and Richie Ginther in the 1953 event. Each is a limited edition release, and comes affixed to an individually numbered baseplate.
