In the great tradition of big honkin' American V8 musclecars crossing the Atlantic to kick butt in British and European touring car racing, a small contingent of Chevrolet Camaro Z28s were entered in the 1981 Spa 24 Hours endurance race. In the face of stiff competition from Mazda and Ford Europe, the Bastos-liveried Z28 of Team Serge Power would take an unlikely pole position, but as for the race...well, it was fun while it lasted, as the Camaro would fail to finish. The car made a lasting impression, however, and to this day remains a fan favorite on the vintage racing circuit.
The Serge Power Camaro Z28 that took on Spa in 1981 is now the subject of a limited edition 1:43-scale resin replica by Spark. Luminous in its red-and-white Bastos livery complimented by gold basketweave wheels, the model's substantial size is balanced nicely by fine auxiliary driving lights, side-exit exhaust, and delicate "Z28" badging.
